Mapei Mapesil AC is a premium, one-component, solvent-free, acetic-curing silicone sealant. Designed for professional and DIY use, it offers superior flexibility, excellent adhesion, and built-in mould resistance thanks to BioBlock® technology. This versatile sealant is perfect for creating durable, waterproof, and elastic seals in a wide range of interior and exterior applications.
Why Choose Mapesil AC?
Exceptional Flexibility and Movement Accommodation – Capable of withstanding joint movement of up to ±25%, making it ideal for expansion joints in buildings, façades, and around windows.
Mould and Mildew Resistant – Contains BioBlock® technology to prevent the growth of mould and mildew, ensuring a cleaner, longer-lasting finish in wet areas.
Excellent Adhesion – Bonds strongly to glass, ceramic, anodised aluminium, and—when used with Primer FD—to concrete, wood, metal, painted surfaces, plastic, and rubber.
High Thermal and Chemical Resistance – Remains flexible from -40°C to +180°C and offers good resistance to water, weathering, and common chemicals.
Smooth, Matt Finish – Provides a professional, non-shiny appearance that blends seamlessly with tiled surfaces.
Ideal For:
Sealing joints in kitchens and bathrooms – Around sinks, baths, showers, and sanitary ware.
Glazing and window sealing – For door frames, window frames, and glass assemblies.
Expansion joint sealing – In walls, floors, swimming pools, and building façades.
Sealing in wet or damp environments – Such as pools, tanks, and pipes.
Industrial and mechanical applications – Gasketing in engineering, shipbuilding, and manufacturing.
How To Use:
Prepare the Joint – Ensure surfaces are clean, dry, solid, and free from dust, grease, and old sealant. For joints deeper than 10mm, use a Mapefoam backing rod.
Apply Primer if Needed – For porous surfaces or continuous immersion (e.g., inside swimming pools), apply Primer FD with a brush and allow to dry.
Cut Nozzle and Apply – Cut cartridge nozzle at a 45° angle to match joint width. Apply sealant evenly using a cartridge gun.
Tool the Sealant – Smooth the bead with a tool moistened with soapy water before a skin forms (within 10–15 minutes).
Allow to Cure – Sealant skins in about 10 minutes and cures fully in 24 hours, depending on humidity. Avoid water exposure for 24 hours.
